How do I uninstall Norton Internet Security programme from my PC?

I am having hp pavilion 703 with Windows XP Home Edition. Initially Norton Internet Security (Symantec Corporation) was installed. Now, its period has expired and I have purchased TREND MICRO PC-cillin Internet Security 2006.
But I could not install it as the Norton Antivirus program interferes. From the Control Panel Add/Remove, I tried to uninstall the Norton program. But it gives error message: “Norton Internet Security uninstallation has failed. Do you want to try to uninstall again”. Then it prompts: Please insert your Norton Internet Security CD to continue. But, I am not having the CD – could not locate it. And the final response: “Unistallation encountered an error and was unable to remove the application”.
Kindly suggest how to proceed.
Regards,
NB Nair.

Go to the Symantec web site and download the uninstal tool from there. N.I.S. is poor at uninstalling – So symantec had to create a tool for it.

What security web site will email your bank to explain why weak passwords are bad?

I visited that particular security web site and they offered to open a dialog with your bank to explain why weak passwords were no protection for online banking. I simply cannot remember what the site is.

Why don’t you email them about it yourself, never heard of a site that does that, but then I’ve never heard of billions of sites out there :)

How do I remove WIN PC antivirus from my computer?

WIN pc antivirus installed itself on my laptop. I know it wants me to buy their product. A bunch of stuff pops up constantly; I tried to uninstall it and I can’t find it in the list of programs. HELP!!!!!!

According to BleepingComputer.com you will need to use a clean computer to download MALWAREBYTES anti-malware program from www.malwarebytes.org and copy it to a flash drive or CD. Then transfer the install file to the infected computer and run.

Occasionally you will not be able to run this program without being in SAFE MODE. To get there, reboot your computer and tap the F8 key, repeatedly until a menu comes up. You want to choose SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.

If you still are unable to run this program, you may need to RENAME the downloaded file to something like HELP.EXE before you transfer it to the infected computer or you may be able to RUN the program directly from the flash drive.

Additional info on this infection from bleepingcomputer.com:

This is a new rogue anti-spyware program. Like its predecessors, this program is installed and advertised through the use of Trojans that display fake security alerts on your computer. These security alerts state that your computer is infected and that you should click on them in order to download software that will protect you. Once you click on these alerts, the Trojan will automatically download and install the program on your computer.

This program has only one purpose and that is to trick you into thinking you are infected so that you purchase it. Please ignore any warnings that this program may display and instead use the free program below to remove this program and any associated malware.

HTH!

Is PC security 2009 fake if so how do i get rid of it? PLEEEEEAAASSSEEEE help?

I tried to download some file from some website and then the internet stopped and the computer restarted itself when it finished start up it had a red circle with an X and PC Security 2009. I had never installed pc security but it was there for some reason and it keeps saying you have a virus or windows has detected a spyware infection. I know it’s not telling the truth unless it’s talking about itself pleassssee help.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and open the task manager.
Stop all processes with a bunch of numbers in them.
Go to Start>Computer>C: drive>Program Files>Temp files, and delete them all.
Empty the recycle bin.
Then go to Start>Run>type %temp% and delete all of those.
Empty the recycle bin again.
Then restart the computer, tap the F8 key while it is booting up, then choose "Safe mode with networking".
Download Malwarebytes from here:
http://malwarebytes.org/
When it asks you where you would like to save it, change the "mbam_setup.exe" file to xxxxx.exe.
Then install it, update it, and run a full scan.

What is the best security cam software for a pc?

i’m looking for a free pc security cam application that has a motion detection beep. If you know of a good trial version that would be okay also but would prefer a free one.

thanks

The HomeCamera webcam security software makes it easy for you to use your webcam for Internet home surveillance, office surveillance, and more.

Subscribers in over 180 countries around the world use HomeCamera as nanny cams, to watch over their babies, their young children, elderly grandparents, their vacation homes, dogs, cats, fish (and yes, even hamsters and rabbits!).

Our subscribers use HomeCamera’s built-in motion detection for security cameras, to receive image and video intrusion alerts on their email and mobile phones. Features like automatic recording schedules enable you to see what happened in your home throughout the day, even while you’re on an out-of-town work trip. Business customers use HomeCamera to watch over their factories, their shops, warehouses, and more.

There are tens – perhaps hundreds – of applications for HomeCamera. By making it easy and affordable, we enable you to use the service to monitor what matters most to you. There’s nothing to buy; just download, install, and get started.

How do I go about setting up a computer security camera?

Could a novice person be able to set up a computer wired/wireless security camera device?

I want to set up several cameras in my house wirelessly connected to my computer that can record and I can watch if I want to "off site" with another computer.

Can I do it myself or should I have someone come and set it up?

If I can do it myself, can you give me any advise on a book or video on how to do it?

Wireless system packages may be the way to go here…a bit pricey any way you look @ it.
Google for ‘home security/video cams’ or similar.
After acquisition & deployment, try this application to tie it all together for remote viewing:
V-CamShow
enables you to watch your favorite web cams as a slide show or a screen saver. You can add as many web cam images to the slideshow as you want, automatically disable or reduce the refresh rate for inactive cams and more. The program comes with a large list of international locations and new web cam locations are added regularly which can be imported into your list. You can also add your own webcam to the list.
Freeware; other webcam utilities in the general heading here also.

What are the computer security levels on 24?

A question for 24 fans. What are the computer security levels on used by CTU, when it existed on the TV series 24? And who were in each security level and when?

blackguy56 – Check out the wesite below…there is a blog and they are talking about the security levels at CTU…just maybe that will help you:

Season One: Jack Bauer/George Mason
Season Two: George Mason/Tony Almieda
Season Three: Tony Almieda/Jack Bauer
Season Four: Erin Driscoll/Bill Buchanan
Season Five: Bill Buchanan/Karen Hayes

There seems to be a recurring theme. Nobody who starts the day as director of CTU ends the day as director.
